Mark Janda serves as AvalonBay’s Senior Vice President – Development for the Southern California Region, with responsibility for the company’s land acquisition, entitlement, and development activity in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and Ventura Counties, and the Inland Empire.

Prior to AvalonBay, Mark spent 12-years at The Irvine Company, serving as Senior Vice President of Development in the company’s multifamily division where he led the development of over 13,000 apartment homes in California.

He held an earlier position with Landauer Associates in New York, where his assignments included economic modeling, portfolio valuation, and the underwriting of several REIT IPO’s.  

He serves as a board member for HomeAid San Diego
